It seems to me that people seem fall in to three broad categories when it comes to travel!
1. People who don’t travel. They don’t like to travel, they prefer what they know and like, and don’t see any point in traveling.
2. Those who do travel, but do so fearfully. They only travel with friends or family members, and feel anxious when confronted with anything unfamiliar. As a result they experience the bare minimum of the new culture or pleasures of their destination, and are relieved to get home again.
3. Those who will travel at the drop of a hat. They go to places they’ve never been before because they found a good deal, and travel on their own because they get to talk to more people that way. They are constantly excited by the prospect of learning something new both about other people and themselves. Their passport and luggage are probably tattered, but they know that travel is all about the process, the adventure that unfolds – and can’t wait for the next trip!
If you fall into this last category then this site is for you! I would hope that people who are dubious about the benefits of travel will also look around the site and become inspired to learn about this fascination. We come alive when we are pushed beyond our comfort zone and by daring to do and try things that are unfamiliar.
With television bringing the distant corners of the world into our homes, we now have to make the effort to go and visit places for ourselves. It is only by being truly quiet and present in a place that we can experience its reality – and what it has to teach us about ourselves, because we never go home quite as we left.
Who am I? In addition to being a life-long fearless traveler, I am a freelance graphic designer based near Philadelphia, PA. I create websites for small businesses, organizations and those with a passion to share.
After finally earning my master’s degree in 2007, I was disappointed to find I was perceived as “old” and wondered what I could do to deal with, and hopefully change, this perception. As a result I found information not only about the journey I was embarking on, but as a result decided to start my own business.
I realized that this journey was important, so decided not to just ‘get through’ it as quickly as possible, but to stop and smell the roses along the way. From this I developed websites to help and encourage others on their life journeys, and in particular to help reawaken earlier passions. In the process my web design business has grown as these same women have become customers, as their passions have in turn became their businesses.
